With decades of experience working in addiction recovery and treatment, the Leadership of Winston Place understands the value of focusing on the whole person. We have a strong emphasis on the basics of recovery, without deciding for anyone what their journey should look like. With the hallmark of our “person centered” focus, we look to help our residents build their own foundations in the recovery process.

I began my journey in recovery in 1987 after going to a local treatment center. A Narcotics Anonymous H&I meeting came to our facility and I heard the truth about my past, present, and future if I didn’t choose to change the way I was living. Alcohol and drugs had become my daily routine and I had a moment of clarity and reached out for help.

Thankfully I surrendered and began living a different life, a life based on 12-step recovery.

The life I have today is a result of that early decision to surrender. This journey has had many up’s and down’s along the way yet, I have chosen not to return to drinking or drugging as a way to deal with what life on life’s terms has presented to me. I was taught that helping others was the repayment for this new way of life and I practice that daily.

My transition into opening a recovery residence came as a result of the death of my wife who passed with long-term recovery. We had opened our home regularly to help those who needed it. I believe that Holly would have wanted our home to be a safe, nurturing place for men to begin their recovery journey after leaving treatment. The gratitude I have for providing this opportunity to men seeking help is as deep as I have for finding this new way to live.

Garrison Nuckols

Program Coordinator

After finding footing in his own recovery journey, Garrison was able to translate years of systems and interpersonal skills honed in the entrepreneurial space into a career in addiction care. After most recently serving as Director of Operations of Hawk’s Nest House-Sober Living in Nashville, Garrison joined the Winston Place team at launch. While closely working with the team, Garrison was able to help develop an individual-driven recovery model to serve the residents of Winston Place. Along with a C.P.R.S. certification, Garrison uses his years of experience in the Recovery Housing field to connect with residents where they are and help them bridge the gap to long-term recovery.
